Just over one week until the annual BioPharmaDispatch conference and confirmation that Pharmacy Guild national president, Professor Trent Twomey, will speak at the event.
The event will occur after the 2023-24 Budget with the theme - 'An opportunity for a wider discussion'.
The aim is to widen the event's focus to reflect the alignment of interests across the biopharmaceutical, medical device and diagnostic sectors and provide an important networking opportunity.
The one-day event will take place in Sydney on 15 May, with registration available online. Complimentary registration is available for patients and patient group representatives (contact@dailydispatch.com.au for more information).
Professor Twomey will appear to discuss the Pharmacy Guild's opposition to the Albanese government's plan to double dispensed prescription quantities for 325 PBS-listed medicines.
Health minister Mark Butler will officially open the event - virtually - while shadow health minister Senator Anne Ruston will address the conference in person.
Other confirmed speakers include Pat Williams (Edwards Lifesciences), Ian Burgess (Medical Technology Association of Australia), Kate Holliday (Centre for Community-Driven Research), Richard Vines (Rare Cancers Australia), Andrea Kunca (Roche Diagnostics), Ruth Colagiuri AM (Juvenile Arthritis Foundation Australia), Professor Andrew Wilson (Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee), Jaime McCoy (Gilead), Malcolm Mulholland (Patient Voice Aotearoa), Giulia Jones (Pain Australia), Liz de Somer (Medicines Australia), Ian Burgess (Medical Technology Association of Australia), Jody Fassina) Insight Strategy, and Adam Roach (BeiGene).
