GSK has topped a FORTUNE Magazine list of companies changing the world.

The 'Change the World' list recognises companies that have made significant progress in sustainable, scalable approaches to addressing societal problems as part of their company strategy.

According to FORTUNE, GSK topped the list for range of initiaties, including its commitment to developing a vaccine for malaria, its partnership with the government of Botswana on treatment for HIV and its collaboration with the US National Institutes of Health on a vaccine for the Zika virus.

It was also recognised for its pricing model, where it bases drug pricing on the gross national income per capita of each of the 150 countries where it operates, management of intellectual property, changes to sales incentives and a partnership with Save the Children.

Other pharmaceutical companies made the list, including Gilead (4), Johnson & Johnson (31) and Cipla (46).
